Make Your St. Patrick's Day Even Greener

When you think St. Patrick's Day, you think green, right? Good start. With St. Patty's Day around the corner, I thought I'd look into some green options for you.

  • Bottles or cans? Slate.com's "Eco-Guide to Responsible Drinking" concludes that glass bottles from a local brewery are probably the best option, though there are so many factors to consider, it is really a difficult call. Of course, whatever containers you decide to empty, make sure to recycle them.
    • My favorite part of this article was the last sentence: "...until then, enjoy toasting the man who apocryphally drove the snakes out of Ireland, and take comfort in the fact that puke is fully biodegradable."
  • Of course, you'll probably enjoy some Guinness and other delicious Irish treats this weekend, but there are many green booze options you should be aware of, including a favorite among my friends: Sierra Nevada. It appears that Sierra implements green practices wherever possible - from using fuel cell technology to supply its energy in the production stage to encouraging its employees to ride a bike to work. I guess those labels aren't the only "green" part of Sierra Nevada.
  • A few more general tips can be found HERE.

CHEERS!
